'Strictly Come Dancing': Peter Andre Proves Why He's Bookies' Favourite, But Iwan Thomas And Ola Jordan Are Less Successful (VIDEO)

Peter Andre Proves Why He's The Hot 'Strictly' Favourite

Peter Andre puts his nerves aside on Sunday night, and proved to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ viewers why he had been named the early favourite to win this year’s series.

When the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer was confirmed to be taking part in the current series, he admitted he felt under pressure to perform, when bookies named him the favourite to take home the Glitterball trophy, and his competitors also branded him “one to watch”.

However, if Pete was feeling nervous ahead of his ‘Strictly’ debut on Sunday, he definitely didn’t show it, hitting the dance floor with his professional partner, Janette Manrara.

The two surprised precisely no one when their cha cha cha to Christina Aguilera’s ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ was a hit with the judges, earning the highest score of the night, with 30 points.

An enthusiastic Bruno Tonioli branded him “snake hips”, during his critiques, adding: “I loved the performance level… that’s the way it should be.”

Less successful was Olympian Iwan Thomas, whose tango was described as “lumpy” by Craig Revel Horwood.

He and Ola Jordan only managed to rack up 17 points from the panel - the lowest score of the evening, but still one point higher than Carol Kirkwood, whose cha cha cha with Pasha Kovalev had failed to impress the judges the night before.

She previously told HuffPost UK she had “resigned herself” to the fact she would be first out of the competition, jokingly referring to herself as a “carthorse” at this year’s ‘Strictly’ press launch.

However, Carol didn’t suffer the biggest embarrassment of the night, as boxer Anthony Ogogo’s performance involved an impromptu wardrobe malfunction, when he his over-zealous dancing caused him to rip his trousers.

Luckily for Carol and Iwan, there is no elimination in the first week of the series, with the first contestant being sent home during next weekend’s ‘Strictly’.
