A photographer has captured the picturesque scenery of Dorset's Durdle Door as a magnificent light show took place at the landmark.

The Jurassic Coast archway was lit up on 1 October to celebrate the International Year of Light.

Timelapse footage of the event encapsulates the beauty of each illumination.

More than 3,000 people witnessed the Purbeck beauty spot as the show took place.

Durdle Door was one of ten UNESCO World Heritage sites across the UK and Ireland being illuminated on the Night of Heritage Light.

The collection was produced and curated by Bournemouth-based Michael Grubb studios.

Other sites involved include Edinburgh Old and New Towns, Fountains Abbey, Liverpool Maritime, Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, Ironbridge Gorge, Blenheim Palace, Blaenavon and Giant’s Causeway.

According to the original Facebook post, on DorsetScouser Photography, the images were shot with a Nikon D800.

The light shows will be featured BBC's the One Show tonight from 7pm
