While fans already know that the film - entitled ‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’ - will chronicle her journey as a mother, it seems fans will also see the character’s pregnancy too.

The rest of the film’s plot is currently under wraps, but it's already been confirmed it will not be based on author Helen Fielding’s third novel.

Bridget Jones will have a baby in the third film

While the first two films were adapted from Helen’s first two books, Bridget’s third big screen outing will be centred around columns the author wrote for The Independent in 2005.

Colin Firth will also reprise his role as Mark Darcy, but Bridget’s other love interest, Daniel Cleaver, will not return as actor Hugh Grant has not signed up.

However, it was revealed that Patrick Dempsey will play a new character, but no further details have been released.

Singer Ed Sheeran will also make a cameo appearance, with scenes having been shot at one of his concerts at Croke Park in Dublin in July.

‘Bridget Jones’ Baby’ is slated for release in September 2016.
