Steve Elliot was a gun owner who, following the horrific mass shooting that happened in Oregon on 1 October, wrote a public post taking a stand against gun ownership in America.
"...after every new mass shooting, I’m reminded that I bear a portion of the responsibility for our nation’s gun violence."
He continues: "My gun is being used to argue against common-sense laws and policies that could reduce gun violence in America, arguments I find unconscionable. That’s what being a responsible gun owner means today – I’m responsible."
Included in his post was an image of his dismantled gun.
16 hours later, Elliot claimed that another Facebook user reported the image for "graphic violence."
"Here's a nice bit of irony," he wrote. "The picture I posted a few days ago of the handgun I destroyed was just reported to Facebook for containing "graphic violence."
A Facebook representative told us that the report is being looked into.
