The channel has been forced to apologise after showing a repeat of an episode of the home video-based show from October 2014.

In the video, an unidentified redhead can be seen attempting to run across a set of inflatable objects in a swimming pool.

The offending clip featured woman in a swimming pool

Presenter Harry Hill then jokes: "And here's Cilla Black's last show for ITV. Cilla's super splash down."

As the woman races across the pool, she stumbles, falls and hits her head on the side of the pool.

Harry Hill then adds: "Surprise Surprise!"

Cilla died at her home in Spain in August after falling and banging her head.

After the clip was aired, many furious viewers contacted Ofcom to complain.

ITV have since apologised, admitting that airing the original clip was an ‘oversight’.

In a statement, an ITV spokesperson said: "This episode of You've Been Framed was first broadcast in October 2014 and was repeated again on Sunday night.

"We have production processes in place to re-edit programmes in circumstances such as this, but regrettably the clip was not cut on this occasion.

"We are very sorry for this unfortunate oversight and for any distress its inclusion caused."

Meanwhile, ITV is planning a tribute to the late star in a one-off special to honour the singer-turned-presenter.

The hour-long documentary is due to air over Christmas.

A spokesman for the channel said: “In this tribute to Cilla we will look at her Liverpudlian upbringing in order to discover what made her into the huge star we all knew and loved.”
