Student Dies After Falling From Halls Of Residence Block

A young woman has died after she fell from a block of student flats in Manchester on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old student at Salford University was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6am.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, police confirmed.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed in a statement: "Shortly before 5:55am on Wednesday 28 October 2015, police were called by the ambulance service to Belvedere Road, Salford to reports that a woman had fallen from a building.

"Officers attended but a 20-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

A Salford University spokesman said in a statement: “We are saddened to report the tragic death of one of our students.

“We are working with police to do all we can to support the student’s friends and family at this sad time.”

Students at the university shared their condolences on social media.
