Police Officer In Washington Challenged To A Dance-Off... Teen 'Shocked' By Her Moves

Police Officer 'Shocks' Teen With Dance-Off Moves

Trust between police and public in the US is, according to recent polling, at a record low. However, that discord was not evident in Washington D.C. when an officer was called to break up a fight… and ended up drawing a dance-off.

The female officer, yet to be named, responded to a call on K Street in the nation’s capital on Monday where a fight had earlier broken out. When she spotted Aaliya Taylor, 17, dancing to the Silentó song ‘Watch Me,’ the officer told the girl she wasn’t quite 'on fleek.' Responding, the teen challenged her to a 'Nae Nae' dance-off… and it was on.

The 'Nae Nae' dance requires participants to jab their legs outwards like a cowboy straddling a small horse, while squatting and bouncing like a Cossack at a wedding. Arms maybe extended and twisted to increase the general look of absurdity.

The teen told NBC Washington: “I was in shock,” adding that the episode had given her a more positive view of the police. Of the officer Taylor said, “She gave me a hug and she was like, 'What's your name?' and she was smiling. I was like, 'Oh yeah, we need more cops like you."

The video was posted to Facebook, receiving more than 50,000 hits.
