Facebook Video Views Are Now At 8 Billion Per DAY

Facebook's Sickening Video Stats Highlight The Need For More Cat Videos

Facebook's third quarter financial results were relatively boring, until the company started talking about the humans that use its site and just how may of them watch cat videos every day.

You might want to sit down for this bit because Facebook's daily video views are now at 8 billion every day.

Every day.

Now it's important to note that Facebook doesn't measure video views in the same way that YouTube does. For example YouTube requires that a person watch a video for at least 30 seconds before it's counted as a single view.

Facebook on the other hand is a far more immediate experience, with videos often only last 30 seconds anyway so the minimum watch time for the site is three seconds.

Of course a lot of this is going to be down to the new Autoplay feature which has been causing a mixture of controversy and sheer annoyance as it happily churns through your data allowance.

In spite of all of this and the fact that Facebook does make it relatively easy to turn Autoplay off, that figure is simply staggering.

Of course it'll come as less of a surprise when you learn that Facebook now has 1.5 billion monthly users and more than a billion people who use the site every single day.

In celebration of this enormous growth, lets all just accept there's no point fighting the trend and watch this cat video:
