"Facebook thinks I am a terrorist..." tweeted a woman named Isis Anchalee.
She said the social media giant blocked her account and failed to reopen it even after she sent them a copy of her passport.
After three attempts to get her account unlocked, Facebook finally verified her identity and put her out of her misery.
Omid Farivar, a researcher, who works for the site, got in touch with Isis, tweeting: "sorry about this. I don't know what happened. I've reported it to the right people and we're working on fixing it."

Following the incident, Isis who works as an engineer for a San Francisco firm, called for Islamic State to be referred to as Daesh -- a term widely used in Arab countries to refer to the militant group.
One of her followers asked the obvious question of whether she had ever thought of changing her name, to which her response was:
This is not the first time Facebook's policy has caught out its users. The platform states that an authentic name is key to ensuring that users do not use fake accounts to bully or harass others.
