This Pick 'N' Mix-Style Vegetable Counter Is The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

A supermarket in New Zealand has absolutely nailed how to sell veggies - sliced, diced and displayed in Pick 'n' Mix format.

A handful of New World stores offer peppers, mushrooms, courgettes, broccoli and a gazillion other vegetables which are pre-cut and displayed in clear, plastic containers.

They've basically taken the traditional Pick 'n' Mix format and made it ten times healthier.

The vegetable stand is particularly good news for those who can't stand the thought of wasting half an hour chopping vegetables after a long day at work. (That's pretty much all of us.)

Chris Grace, the owner of a New World store in Te Rapa, said that the veggie bins are increasing in popularity, despite being more expensive.

He told Stuff.co.nz that the pre-cut veg is perfect for young professionals who are in a hurry or for the elderly who might struggle to chop things at home.

"It eliminates any waste for them," he explains. "They can pick out exactly how much they want of the different types, mushrooms, or courgettes or cucumbers or whatever, and the other factor is they don't have to go through the physical exercise of cutting up pumpkins or cauliflowers."

While it's currently only available in New Zealand, we're hoping the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose take note soon.
