People Put Their Arm Through A Hole In A Wall And Get A Surprise Tattoo From Artist Scott Campbell

Brave People Put Their Arm Through A Wall And Get A Surprise Tattoo

With clients including Robert Downey Jr., Courtney Love and Orlando Bloom, tattoo artist Scott Campbell is a pretty big deal in the ink world.

So when he offered to give free tattoos to members of the public at a New York gallery, fans of his work flocked to get in on the action.

The catch? The individuals had to put their arm through a hole in a wall and allow Campbell to ink them with any design he fancied.

The tattoo artist knew nothing about each of his clients and was not allowed to meet them before they sat down.

In an interview with the New York Times, Campbell said he is used to people coming to his studio and saying "do what you want".

He admits in these instances he often finds himself influenced by his perception of a person, which can hinder his creativity.

He came up with the project, titled Whole Glory, because he wanted to explore what it would be like to have "absolute freedom" when designing a tattoo.

"I almost feel like there’s a bit of a palm-reading aspect to it. I don’t really know the person, but I’m physically touching them, reacting to them subliminally," he said.

Unsurprisingly, the tattoos Campbell created are pretty impressive. Check out a few of them below:
