The ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer and his professional partner, Janette Manrara, found themselves in the dance-off against ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton.

After both couples performed their final routines, the decisions made the decision to send Peter home.

Craig Revel Horwood was the first to offer his critique, saying: “It’s really tough now, both couples improved… but the couple I would love to save is Kellie and Kevin.”

Darcey Bussell also chose to save Kellie, who she said gave a “technically more assured performance”, while Bruno Tonioli added: “Based on the dance I saw the one that I thought has more content and was technically more accurate was Kellie and Kevin.”

Kellie and Kevin are safe for another week

Following his elimination, Peter - who was the lowest-scoring contestant of the week for the second time in a row on Saturday night - said: “It’s been nothing but joy and we have come so far. Like I said before there is no shame in leaving, we are so grateful. I love everybody. Thank you.”

His professional partner, Janette, heaped praise on the star, calling him a “friend for life”.

She added: “I love you and I am so glad to have you as part of my life going forward.”

Peter’s departure comes at the end of a particularly tough week, which began with Jamelia - who was eliminated last week - suggesting in the media that the show was being unfairly edited in his favour.

The six remaining couples are now through to next week’s ‘Strictly’ quarter finals, airing on Saturday night at 7pm on BBC One.
