Jessie threw her big comeback as the much-loved Albert Square resident into chaos, when she fell and injured herself while out walking her pet dog.

The Mirror reports that producers originally thought Jessie would have to miss filming some scenes after she required surgery on it, which has left her in a cast.

However, bosses reworked scenes to feature Kat from the waist up, with a body double used for any full-length shots.

“Luckily it has meant that none of the story has been changed at all – you just won’t see Kat doing laps around Albert Square.”

Jessie also added on Twitter: “Thank you to everyone for your well wishes. I'm out of my pink cast next week!”

An EastEnders spokesman added: “Jessie, like a true professional, has managed to film everything.”

The news comes after details of Kat and Alfie’s return to Walford were revealed.

Over the weekend, it was reported that her father Charlie Slater will be killed off in an emotional storyline over the festive period.

Kat and her husband Alfie (Shane Richie) left Walford for a new life in Spain earlier this year, after winning £1 million on the lottery.

However, their return to Albert Square over Christmas will pave the way for them to leave for Ireland, a trip which will be the topic of a spin-off drama starring the pair.
