'Don't Tell The Bride' Bought By Sky 1 As BBC Three Moves Online

People Are Furious 'Don't Tell The Bride' Is Moving From BBC Three

One of BBC Three's most successful programmes is to move to Sky 1, prompting a furious reaction from its die-hard fans.

'Don't Tell The Bride' shot to popularity as viewers reveled in a signature mix of anguish, incredulity, and stupidity as grooms-to-be took control of the entire wedding, from writing invitations to buying the dress.

But a new "pacier format" will aim to shoehorn up to four advert breaks into each hour-long programme, prompting fears that the show's best liked features may be reduced. Viewers have been quick to voice their displeasure.

Earlier this year, similar outrage was sparked when the Beeb moved 'Don't Tell' to BBC One, following its phenomenal success on the digital channel.

Sky's statement confirms that key features will remain, however, meaning grooms are likely to continue to receive close to £14,000 to plan their big day - without any input from the bride.

Commenting on the commission, Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1, said: “Charting wedding dramas for nigh on a decade, Don’t Tell the Bride is best in class family-friendly entertainment and a British TV institution to boot! Many of our customers are already huge fans of the show so we’re delighted to be giving the brand-new series a home on Sky 1.”

It will air on Sky 1 from summer 2016.
