Kate Oates, who is about to take the reins at ‘Corrie’ after turning Emmerdale’s fortunes around, wants to bring back some old favourites to the cobbles when she takes over in the New Year.

Top of her wish list are Helen Flanagan who played ditsy Rosie Webster for 12 years before leaving in 2012, and Boyzone star Keith Duffy who played Ciaran McCarthy from 2002 to 2005.

She’s also told staff on the soap that she wants Georgia Taylor back on our screens as troubled Toyah Battersby, who she played until 2003.

“She loved the idea of bringing Toyah back and said there would be endless opportunities for the character to be exploited after being away for so long.

“The same went for Rosie. She said again there would be loads of terrific storylines.”

Kate is said to be a huge fan of Keith, who made a brief return between 2010 and 2011 before he quit to spend more time with his family.

Since quitting ‘Corrie’, Helen appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ before marrying Aston Villa footballer Scott Sinclair and having a baby.

Meanwhile, Georgia went on to find success on ‘Law and Order: UK’ but, like Helen, hasn’t ruled out a return to Weatherfield.

The dodgy character was last seen after blackmailing Anna Windass in 2014, but he’ll back on’t cobbles in the coming weeks, as confirmed on the soap’s Twitter page.
