Powerful 'Dear Daddy' Video Urges All Men To Fight Rape Culture To Protect Their Daughters

Powerful Video Urges Men To Fight Rape Culture To Protect Their Daughters

A powerful video is sending a message to fathers and would-be fathers everywhere, urging them to help protect their daughters by showing zero tolerance to rape culture.

It is estimated that 1 in 3 women worldwide will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, usually by a male partner, according to World Health Organisation (WHO).

That's why Care Norway is calling on men around the world to nip misogynist culture in the bud, by refusing to accept any kind of abuse towards women - whether physical or verbal, or even a masquerading as a "joke".

The video, called Dear Daddy, is narrated by one man's unborn daughter, who lists all of the possible - and horrific - things that could happen throughout her lifetime at the hands of men.

By 14 she will have already been called a "bitch" or a "whore" by her male classmates; by 16 she will have already been groped or pressured into sex by a boy while she is steaming drunk; by 21 she may have been raped; and later in life she may end up in an abusive relationship that puts her life at risk.

The video does not imply that a boy who calls a girl a "bitch" will end up a rapist, but as the girl explains: "One thing always leads to another, so please stop it before it gets the chance to begin."

The video ends with the powerful line: "I will be born a girl, please do everything you can so that won't be the greatest danger of all."
