Happy New Year Tweets Sent Prematurely Leave Brands Red-Faced

Twitter Got A Little Confused About When To Say Happy New Year

Wishing people Happy New Year is usually a no-brainer.

Most of us, undoubtedly shout it out at midnight on the last day of December.

However, a few brands and businesses were left a little red in the face after their scheduled tweets went out a day early.

On 31 December at 1:00 AM, the bottled water company, Highland Spring, tweeted: "Break out the bubbles - it's 2016! #HappyNewYear."

The same happened an hour earlier but this time the greeting came from the Tower Bridge Twitter account.

Obviously, some assumed both brands were "at the same party."

@marcusfutboI tweeted: "@Highland_Spring I'm assuming @TowerBridge is at this party too."

According to the Independent, Papa John's UK, also sent a similar tweet at 00:00AM on 31 December, which it has since deleted.

However, they weren't the only ones to celebrate the wrong midnight.
