New Website Uses Artificial Intelligence To Guess Your Attractiveness And Age

This Website Will Guess Your Attractiveness And Age But Proceed With Caution

A newly-launched website is promising users the chance to have their attractiveness rated on a scale of "hmm" to "Godlike."

BLINQ uses artificial intelligence to make a judgement call on your looks and age.

All you have to do is upload a picture of yourself and quickly develop a thick skin, if you haven't already got one. This was our result:

To lessen the blow, the site does have a few provisos succinctly included under the question "do I have to take this seriously?"

It states:

  • "Attractiveness is highly subjective and its perception differs from culture to culture."
  • "Our algorithm is trained on the pictures of the BLINQ community that is mainly based in Switzerland. In other parts of the world the perception might be very different."
  • "We do not show results for underaged people. Please only use our tool if you have reached adult age.
  • "We do not save the uploaded image."
  • "Have fun and don’t take the results too seriously."

An app is also available, offering the option to meet other "attractive" people near you, including those who happen to be in the same club or bar as you.

The research team behind the site, wanted to build on earlier findings proving that computers are able to predict age, gender and attractiveness with "reasonable precision."

Describing BLINQ's goals, they state: "We improve the state-of-the-art, but also predict - based on someone's known preferences - how much that particular person is attracted to a novel face."

Those trying the site for the first time tweeted their disgust and delight at the AI's attempt to rate their faces.
