Penis Implant Patient Opens Up About Sex Life After Tragic Accident Leaves Him Partially Paralysed

Five years ago, Reddit user 'Titantool' was involved in a near-fatal car accident which left him with a spinal cord injury.

At the time of the accident, he was submerged under water and trapped in a car, however he somehow managed to wriggle free to safety.

The impact caused him to break a lot of bones, resulting in partial paralysis. Thankfully he can still walk, however he's been left with a dysfunctional bowel, bladder and penis.

Faced with the prospect of never being able to have sex again, 'Titantool' underwent surgery to have an implant fitted in his penis, which enables him to inflate his penis and get an erection.

He shared a whole host of photos of his penis before the accident, as well as after he had the implant fitted, on Reddit in a bid to educate others about the "amazing" surgery.

He also answered some very personal questions about his sex life, which has offered a fascinating insight into the more personal side of living with partial paralysis.

Discussing the mechanics of his penis implant, 'Titantool' said he has a bulb and valve in his scrotum which allows him to inflate his penis.

There are two rods in his penis and a reservoir near his bladder which holds saline. If he squeezes the bulb roughly 10 times it pumps up the two rods and makes his penis erect.

When he wants to be flaccid again, he squeezes the valve - which is positioned just above the bulb - and it releases the saline back into the reservoir.

One Reddit user 'PsychoNautJohnII' asked: "If your wife and you had never met and obviously weren't married, would you feel comfortable having a one night stand or anything like that? Basically any situation where you are having sex with someone who didn't know you had been in an accident?"

'Titantool' explained that if he was having sex with a stranger, they wouldn't necessarily know he'd had an accident, or an implant fitted, unless they felt his testicles.

"However, because of the other issues with the spinal cord injury, I would probably tell them," he explained.

"I can't hold an orgasm any longer and when I get aroused, I spontaneously orgasm. Luckily for this though, I can keep going regardless."

He explained that his spontaneous orgasm is usually a result of becoming really aroused and is usually "not a very good quality orgasm".

"I was in very good shape before my accident and had good muscle control of my orgasms. That part really sucks," he explained.

"As for the sensitivity, I have no feeling because of the spinal cord injury. For most men getting an implant though, they don't have loss of sensation."

Another Reddit user 'LadiesWhoPunch' asked: "What's your wife's opinion of what your testicles feel like now? Does one feel like a regular testicles [sic] and the other like a small hollow plastic ball?"

'Titantool' responded that his wife said it "feels weird".

"It took me quite a while to get over that feeling of a third ball in my scrotum," he explained. "It's a very unique feeling to it. It has texture so you can hang on to it better when inflating.

"It's firm but squishy though and not hollow feeling. It only feels hard when the tubes are full of saline and you can't squeeze anymore in there."

Reddit user 'HighOnGoofballs' asked if he could feel anything in his penis, to which 'Titantool' said that he couldn't.

"I actually have no feeling in my penis," he said. "It sucks. Really bad. BUT, what I kept getting told by all the doctors is, sex is mostly in your head. Once I figured that out, it made it much better. Now, I have other areas that are hyper-focused and I get pleasure from."

When asked how many people in his life knew about the pump, he said there were very few.

"I've got a few close friends that know and that's about it. I want to tell more men because sexual dysfunction is a real thing. Especially when you're older," he said.

"This is such a great option because the risks are low and can bring sexual satisfaction back to a relationship that it might be lacking in."

He added that he had wanted to share the photos for a while, but fear kept him from doing it.

Now he's shared all, he hopes it will "help men with sexual dysfunction to see this as a viable option".
