Scottish Video On Mental Health Stigma Opens Up Discussions Around The World

Powerful Video Gets People Around The World Talking About Mental Health

A Scottish video aiming to get people talking about mental health has united people all over the world.

The video, titled 'Power of Okay', looks at how people worry about what others think of them when they are struggling with their mental health.

The film was created last year by Ian Greenhill and Jordan Laird of Something Something production company in partnership with See Me, Scotland’s programme to end mental health discrimination.

But the campaign has gained momentum since it was posted on Reddit on Thursday.

In fact, the clip has received more than 150,000 views in 24 hours and has encouraged hundreds of people from around the world to speak up on Reddit about their experiences of mental health issues.

Commenting on why they created the film in the first place, Greenhill said: "We just want a discussion about mental health to be started rather than people being scared of saying the wrong thing and just not saying anything.

"The simple start-off point of 'okay' seemed really powerful. If we all start out at that base level of human kindness, I think the world would be a lot better."
