Reggie Yates Reveals Surprising Career Ambition

As a presenter, actor and DJ, Reggie Yates already has many strings to his bow, but it seems he’s keen to add another.

The star has revealed his ambitions to become a film director, as he opened up to Richard Bacon about love, life and his career in HuffPost’s new original video series ‘30 Something’.

Speaking about his ambitions for the future, Reggie said: “I’d love to direct feature films at some point, that’s something that I’d want to do.”

Reggie began his career in kids TV on shows such as ‘Smile’, and has gone on to host ‘Top Of The Pops’, ‘The Voice’ and the Radio 1 Chart Show, as well as having acting roles in ‘Doctor Who’ and Sky Arts series ‘Playhouse Presents’.

Most recently, he’s hosted a series of documentaries for BBC Three on the topics of race and sexuality.

Revealing how he made the jump from kids’ telly to more mainstream roles, Reggie explained: “I think the people that leave it until they’ve stopped are the people that struggle, or that find it tough.

“I think I was fortunate enough to be doing kids’ TV at the same time as doing 1Xtra, for instance.

“Well while I was talking to puppets on a Saturday, at night I would probably be in a club somewhere DJing and saying all kinds of crazy stuff.”
