Raymond Blanc Restaurant Diners Terrified As Chandelier Falls On Customers

Raymond Blanc Diners Given Crash Course As Massive Chandelier Smashes Mid-Meal

A 10ft-wide chandelier crashed down in Raymond Blanc's restaurant leaving terrified customers injured after they were showered in glass.

The fitting came loose from the ceiling and fell over a group of nine or 10 diners eating at the Brasserie Blanc in Buckinghamshire on Sunday.

Diner Claire Hurst uploaded a picture of the ornate light as it laid on top of a table, smashed to smithereens. She wrote: "Terrifying lunch at the Blanc Brasserie when a chandelier fell from the ceiling."

South Central Ambulance Service paramedics were called and around 10 people were treated for cuts and bruises at the scene.

The service said no one was seriously injured.

A spokeswoman for the Brasserie Blanc, Kathryn Coury, told the Bucks Free Press: "The health and safety of our guests is paramount. Our restaurants are designed and built to adhere to the strictest building regulations.

"We are thankful that nobody was seriously injured and are undertaking a thorough investigation into what might have caused the chandelier to fall."

An investigation to what caused the light to fall has now been opened by the restaraunt chain, created by well-known chef Raymond Blanc.
