'Harry Potter' New Book: 'The Cursed Child' Play Script To Be Published

Stop What You're Doing - There's Going To Be An 8th 'Harry Potter' Book

A new ‘Harry Potter’ book is set for release in July, when ‘The Cursed Child’ playscript is published by Little Brown.

The play will debut in the West End on 30 July, and a day later readers will be able to snap up a copy of the script.

Publishers Little Brown are understandably excited to be bringing the next instalment of the Harry Potter tale to fans, and their CEO David Shelley has stated: “We are so thrilled to be publishing the script of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’.

“J.K. Rowling and her team have received a huge number of appeals from fans who can't be in London to see the play and who would like to read the play in book format – and so we are absolutely delighted to be able to make it available for them.”

The play has been written by Jack Thorne and is set 19 years after the close of ‘The Deathly Hallows’.

A previously revealed synopsis hinted at what fans of the wizarding world can expect, reading:

“The eighth story. Nineteen years later.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places."

The two-part play’s initial run has already been extended following huge demand for tickets.
