Glastonbury 2016: Coldplay Confirm Headline Set, With Band Due To Close Festival On Sunday Night

Confirmed! Glastonbury 2016 Has Its First Headliner

Coldplay have confirmed music’s worst kept secret, announcing that they will headline Glastonbury this year.

The band will close the 2016 festival with a set on the Pyramid Stage, on the Sunday night of the three day music extravaganza.

Coldplay will headline Glastonbury 2016

Coldplay announced the news on Twitter, with a picture of the skeleton of the Pyramid alongside a sign of their logo and the caption “Sunday, June 26”.

It marks the fourth time the group will have headlined the festival, having taken the Friday night slot in 2002, and the Saturday night slots in 2005 and 2011.

Fans are still speculating over who will headline the other two nights of this year’s festival.

It is thought that Foo Fighters could be in line to take one of the spots, having been forced to pull out of their headline slot last year, after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg.

Other names who have been linked to the festival include Adele, Rihanna and Muse, with an official announcement expected in the next few months.

2015’s festival was headlined by Florence And The Machine, Kanye West and The Who.
