'Viola Beach For No.1' Campaign Gains Pace

A campaign to get band Viola Beach to the number one spot on the Official Singles Chart is gaining pace, following their deaths over the weekend.

The musicians died on 13 February, when their car plunged into a canal in Sweden, killing them and their manager.

Since the news broke, their families have shared their sadness, and are now leading a campaign to get the band to the top of the charts.

Viola Beach’s single ‘Swings & Waterslides’ is now at number five in the iTunes chart, and their label, Communion, have stated that all proceeds from sales will go to the band and manager’s families.

The band was made up of members Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin, and the group were in Sweden with their manager after playing at the 'Where Is The Music?' festival.

After forming in 2015, Viola Beach went from strength-to-strength, getting airplay on Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, as well as playing on the BBC Introducing stage at a series of UK festivals.
