Restaurant Gives Kind Couple Free Meal After They Offer To Help Woman With Special Needs

Restaurant Gives Kind Couple Free Meal To Thank Them For Generous Act

A couple got a nice surprise recently when a restaurant manager gave them their meal for free, after they offered to cover the bill of a woman with special needs.

Lisa and Jeremy Wilks were in a London branch of Pizza Express when the woman next to them was told her card was declined.

"The waitress told to her, in a very kind way, that there was a problem but that she would call her manager for help," Lisa explained on Facebook

"Jeremy immediately leapt up and told the waiting staff that we would pay for the lady's meal."

However, when the manager arrived he told the woman there was no need to worry as Pizza Express authorises the restaurant to give away two free meals per month and, on this occasion, they would like to provide her with a free meal.

"She was extremely grateful and apologetic that she had been unable to pay. We were relieved that the lady had been treated in such a dignified way and that she was not placed in a difficult position," Lisa said.

But the good news didn't stop there. The manager then approached the couple's table and said he was also happy to wave their bill to say thank you for their generosity.

"We were absolutely dumbfounded. I have never heard of any chain restaurant behaving in such a generous way. We were quite overcome," Lisa said.

"I made sure that the lady was able to get home okay then we thanked the staff and left ourselves."

Lisa's Facebook post has now been shared more than 23,000 times and liked more than 49,000 times.

She added: "I think Pizza Express, and in particular the manager of the Surbiton branch, deserve a massive pat on the back.

"I told the manager that my younger son has special needs and that I was really impressed by how the restaurant had treated this special case."
