PMQs: 'Where Is The Fella?' Tory MP Bernard Jenkin 'Embarrassed' For Forgetting To Turn Up To Ask Question

Tory MP Bernard Jenkin admits he is “embarrassed” at failing to show up for Prime Minster’s Questions today despite being down to quiz David Cameron.

Speaker John Bercow was left asking “Where is the fella?” after calling him to speak at Parliament’s weekly showpiece event.

The Harwich and North Essex MP – who is one of the leading Eurosceptic voices in the Tory party – told HuffPost UK he missed PMQs as he had a diary clash.

Mr Jenkin said: “Yes, I am embarrassed. I was dealing with patient safety issues as part of the work of my Select Committee.

“It was a diary screw-up. I am really sorry. I will write a note of apology to the Speaker.”

Mr Bercow called fellow Tory Eurosceptic David Davis instead, leading the Prime Minister to quip: “I’m glad we’ve got the Single Transferrable Question if not the Single Transferrable Vote.”
