Tesco's flavoured butters have been withdrawn over fears they are contaminated with a food poisoning bug that in rare cases can cause meningitis.
As a "precautionary measure" the supermarket chain has removed its store brand butter which it says "may contain" bacteria Listeria monocytogenes.
Pregnant women, children and the elderly most at risk.
The butter is sold in 100g packs and 10g discs are given out at the fish and meat counters of its stores deli counter.
The packs being withdrawn are Tesco Chocolate Chip & Maple Syrup Butter, Red Chilli & Lemon Butter, Roast Garlic & Herb Butter and Three Peppercorn Butter.
The butter discs are Roast Garlic & Herb Butter, Peppercorn Butter Discs and Chilli Butter Discs.
Listeriosis, in most people, causes symptoms including a high temperature, vomiting and diarrhoea and passes within three days without the need for treatment. But in rare cases, the infection can spread to other parts of the body, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

In a statement Tesco said: "We have been made aware that some Tesco butters may potentially have low levels of Listeria monocytogenes present.
"As a precautionary measure, we are recalling affected products from customers."
Tesco advised customers to "discard" any complimentary butter discs they had been given and to return any purchased products for a full refund. No receipt is required, it said.
The Food Standards Agency said: "Tesco has taken the precautionary step of recalling some flavoured butter products due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
"Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness, particularly among key vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, those over 60 years old, and anyone with reduced immunity.
"No other Tesco products are known to be affected."
