Kings Cross Station Evacuated At Peak Of Rush Hour Due To Overcrowding

Commuter Chaos As Kings Cross Station Evacuated At Peak Of Rush Hour

London's Kings Cross station was thrown into chaos on Tuesday morning as hundreds of commuters were evacuated.

The major interchange was closed around 9am at the peak of rush hour prompting some dubious puns.

Fire alarms and a lack of information caused some people to panic.

Pictures from the station tweeted by angry commuters showed huge crowds looking for alternative routes.

But down below appeared to be a different story.

TfL confirmed the evacuation was due to over-crowding.

A spokesperson said: "We apologise for the disruption caused to our customers at Kings Cross Tube station this morning.

"The station was closed for around 15 minutes to prevent overcrowding caused by an influx of customers from two mainline services arriving simultaneously and a defective Northern line train having to let a full train of customers off at the platform.

"The station closed at 8:55am and reopened at 9:10am."
