BBC Presenter Greg Foot Films Himself 'Eating His Own Leg'

Because why the foot not?

A BBC science presenter has filmed himself eating a flavour of tissue from his own leg, in an aim to discover what human flesh tastes like.

The aptly named Greg Foot had a biopsy taken from his right thigh in order to complete the experiment for his YouTube show BritLab.

Gagging before biting a burger containing the taste of his own meat, Foot described it as somewhere between pork and lamb, with a smell similar to "beef and ale stew".

As it is currently illegal to consume human flesh in the UK, the scientists behind the experiment used samples of Foot's leg to recreate the taste.

Chunks of quadricep muscles were taken from the journalist's thigh and analysed under a microscope, before being cooked and chemically tested.

Researchers relied on the aroma of human flesh to recreate a sample, which they claimed measures at about 80 percent of the real taste.

A replica burger adding the human taste was then cooked using lamb and pork.

After initially retching at the smell of the meal, Foot changed his mind.

"I think it's the closest I'm ever going to get to tasting human, and I tell you what, it's pretty good," he said.

The episode named "What Does Human Flesh Taste Like?" used a laboratory in Nottingham to conduct the procedure.

According to the Cornell University Law School, the non-consensual consumption of another human's body matter (cannibalism) was formally outlawed in Britain in the early 1800s.
