A Saudi man was arrested last week after flying a rainbow flag “unaware” of its homosexual symbolism. According to CNN, the doctor bought the flag online, attracted by its “pretty” colours, which he installed on a three-foot pole above his house Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia’s religious police, known as the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, arresting the man but later released him on bail after he agreed to remove the flag.

Saudi citizens live under Sharia, which prohibits homosexuality. The penalties for same-sex relationships run from chemical castration to execution.
