Beverley Callard tweeted candidly about her battle with depression on Wednesday (30 March) night, after reportedly being signed off work to take time to recover.
The actress, who plays Liz McDonald in 'Coronation Street', explained to her followers that one of the prescription medications she takes is no longer available, writing:
A source has told the Mirror that Beverley has been signed off work by ITV bosses, as she looks for a replacement for the drug.
They say: “Bev has taken some time off after one of the medications she takes for her depression was discontinued without warning causing her to have some problems.
Beverly has spoken candidly about her depression on a number of previous occasions, and did so during her 2014 episode of ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’.
“I was going to work and I was still filming and I didn't really talk to anyone about it,” she said. “On that day they took me into The Priory in the early hours of the next morning and John said, and my doctor said, I looked like a 100-year-old woman.
“They tried different medications but none of them seemed to work."
When approached by the Mirror, a ‘Corrie’ spokesperson said: “We don't comment on private health matters."
Things are all change in Weatherfield at the moment, thanks to new producer Kate Oates.
Kate joined the team in the New Year, and according to reports, she’s set to bring back some familiar faces.
There will also be some departures and one character is being killed off, while off-screen.
