British Soap Awards 2016 Nominations Long-List Announced

But have your favourite soap stars made the cut?

The long-list of nominees for this year's British Soap Awards have been revealed.

Each of the big five soaps ('EastEnders', 'Coronation Street', 'Emmerdale', 'Hollyoaks' and 'Doctors') have received nods in the Best Soap categories, while 30 stars from across the board have been nominated in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories.

The winner of each of the three categories will be voted for by the public, with the others decided by a panel of soap experts.

'EastEnders' actors Rakhee Thakrar (Shabnam Masood) and Davood Ghadami (Kush Kazemi) are up for Best Actress and Best Actor thanks in part to their work on their emotional stillbirth storyline.

Rakhee will go up against Diane Parrish (Denise Fox) and Lacey Turner, who has been widely praised for her portrayal of Stacey Branning's struggles with postpartum psychosis. Davood has been nominated alongside co-stars Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) and James Bye (Martin Fowler).
