'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Doris Roberts has died at the age of 90.
The actress - best known for her role as Ray Romano's on-screen mother Marie in the US sitcom - passed away in LA on Sunday (17 April) of an undisclosed illness, according to TMZ.
Her former co-star and TV son was among the first to pay tribute, saying in a statement: "Doris Roberts had an energy and a spirit that amazed me. She never stopped.
"Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly."
Doris was a four-time Emmy Award winner for her role in 'Everybody Loves Raymond', and also picked up an Emmy for 'St Elsewhere' in 1983.
She is also remembered for playing Grandma Frances in festive film 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation', and starring in comedy classic 'The Heartbreak Kid'.
More recently, she had roles in shows including 'Melissa & Joey' and 'Desperate Housewives'.
Doris is survived by her son, Michael Cannata Jr., who she had with her first husband, and her three grandchildren. Her second husband, William Goyen, died in 1983.
