'EastEnders' fans have been left stunned by the latest plot twist, which saw Jay Brown learn girlfriend Linzi Bragg is underage.
The honourary member of the Mitchell family - played by Jamie Borthwick - was shocked to find out his latest love interest was a school girl, in scenes that aired on the soap on Monday (18 April) night.
Jay made the discovery after visiting Walford High to pick up Phil's wayward daughter Louise, after she became embroiled in a fight with another pupil, who turned out to be none other than Linzi (Amy-Leigh Hickman).
It came as the couple were planning to take their relationship to the next level, with Jay having booked a hotel for them to spend the night together.
Needless to say the revelation was met with surprise on social media, as viewers had been led to believe Linzi was much older:
Bosses have hinted this is just the start of a massive storyline for Jay, with him set to face "severe consequences" over the relationship.
An 'EastEnders' source told Digital Spy: "Jay's world comes to a juddering halt when he discovers the truth about Linzi's age. He immediately realises the seriousness of his mistake - and is set to face severe consequences."
Many fans have speculated that Jay could face rape charges, despite the fact the couple haven't yet had sex.
The aftermath of Jay's discovery plays out on Tuesday's episode, airing at 7.30pm on BBC One.
