Leicester City FC Victory Parade 2016 To Cap Two Weeks Of Premier League Title Celebrations

Leicester City fans have taken to the streets to celebrate their team being confirmed as Premier League champions.

Supporters climbed the city's clock tower and partied near the club's King Power Stadium on Monday night and Tuesday and a video of the players erupting in cheers as they learned the news was posted online.

But the party is just getting started, with celebrations expected to last for at least the next two weeks as Leicester play their final matches against Everton at home (Saturday 7th May, 5:30pm) and Chelsea away (Sunday 15th May, 3pm).

More than 32,000 fans will pack Leicester's King Power Stadium on Saturday to see the Foxes being presented with the Premier League trophy.

As the party atmosphere on the streets of Leicester gathered pace today. a Jamie Vardy lookalike even made it onto the official team bus.

The team were on their way back past the King Power after today’s training session when they spotted postman Lee Chapman.

Manager Claudio Ranieri was mobbed by fans as he arrived at an Italian restaurant for lunch today in Leicester after arriving back in the UK from Italy, while the players celebrated with the team's Thai owners at the Foxes' training ground.

Leicester Mayor Peter Soulsby claimed Tuesday that the public celebration was "far from over," indicating the party would continue: "We’ve got two weeks till the end of the season."

Leicester City Council are expected to announce a date and route for the Foxes' second open-top bus parade in two years, after the team celebrated its Premier League promotion and Championship title in 2014.

Soulsby said: "We know that people from all over Leicester, if not the world will want to celebrate the club’s success with them, and there will be an announcement on how they can do this in due course.

"They can rest assured that Leicester knows how to throw a party, and that everyone will be invited," he said.

Although details have yet to be confirmed, the 2014 version of the open top bus parade took place on a Bank Holiday Monday between 2 and 4pm. It had five minute stops on Leicester's High Street near Shires Lane, Clock Tower, Gallowtree Gate, outside Visit Leicester Information Centre, with a final 30-minute stop at Town Hall Square.

Soulsby already announced in April that he wanted to rename streets in Leicester if the team won the title, saying: "Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road. It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road."

The Foxes needed Chelsea to do them a favour by preventing Tottenham Hotspur from winning at Stamford Bridge last night - and they did so with the game ending 2-2.

Leicester could have clinched the title themselves on Sunday with a win against Manchester United.

But the game ended 1-1 at Old Trafford after captain Wes Morgan equalised following an early Anthony Martial volley.
