Cliff Richard Police Files Alleging Historical Sex Abuse Handed To Prosecutors

Richard strenuously denies the allegations.

A file of evidence relating to allegations of historical sex abuse against Sir Cliff Richard has been passed to prosecutors by police, sources have said.

The Crown Prosecution Service will now make a decision as to whether to bring charges or not.

The Telegraph quoted a CPS spokesperson as saying: “We have received a full file of evidence from South Yorkshire Police.

"We will now carefully consider its contents in line with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, in order to establish whether there is sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction, and whether it is in the public interest to do so.”

Since his house was raided by police in 2014 Richard has been questioned twice by police. He is said to have strenuously denied allegations that he groped a young boy at a Christian rally at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane football ground in 1985.

The 75-year-old has been voluntarily interviewed by police but has never been arrested or charged.
