Donald Trump And Hillary Clinton As Presidential Candidates Drive Mary Anne Noland To Leave Final Note In Obituary

She 'chose to pass into the eternal love of God' instead.

The US is in the middle of election fever, as the Republican and Democrat parties select their candidates.

As it looks increasingly likely that billionaire businessman Donald Trump will represent the Republican party, while former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton will represent the Democrats, some people are less than enamoured with their options in November’s election.

But none more so, it seems, than a lady called Mary Anne Noland.

According to her obituary, the 68-year-old was so unimpressed with the choice of candidates that she chose a rather more radical option.

The obituary, published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, read: "Faced with the prospect of voting for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, Mary Anne Noland of Richmond chose, instead, to pass into the eternal love of God on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the age of 68."

A number of fake obituaries along these lines have appeared online in the past but the obituary does in fact appear to be genuine.

According to Snopes, The Richmond Times-Dispatch referenced it the next day, saying: "Paid death notices are vignettes about a person's life, as told by their family or friends.

"This isn't the first time a paid death notice has been used to send a personal message to the world. Some have commented on favorite sports teams, places to visit, a drink of choice and, yes, politics.

"All content published in The Times-Dispatch is reviewed before publication. In the case of Ms. Noland's obituary, we're not surprised by the response."

It was also pointed out that others have also used their obituaries to have the final word on the race to the White House.

One man, Ernest Overbey Jr. urged people to "please vote for Donald Trump" while Katherine Michael Hinds requested that "in lieu of flowers, do not vote for Donald Trump."
