‘Britain’s Got Talent’ singers Vox Fortura have spoken in support of Alesha Dixon, after she faced a backlash for a comment she made about them in Wednesday night’s (25 May) live show.
Delivering her critique to the group after their performance, Alesha raised eyebrows among some viewers when she gushed that they were “four sexy chocolate men with amazing voices, polished to perfection”.
While Alesha’s controversial remark has been blasted by some ‘BGT’ fans, who suggested it was inappropriate for her to mention race when offering her verdict on Vox Fortura’s vocal performance, the group have insisted that they haven’t taken it offensively.
Addressing Alesha directly on their official Twitter page, they wrote: “If you think we are "four beautiful chocolate men" can't get any better than that!!”
Alesha later responded to their tweet, writing: “I do! And so is my husband!”
Vox Fortura ultimately missed out on a place in this year’s final, with teenage musical theatre singer Beau Dermott - who was Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer act at the beginning of the series - and solo dancer Balance Unity both progressing in Wednesday’s show.
The two will join choir 100 Voices Of Gospel, mother and son duo Mel & Jamie, stunt performer Alex Magala, swing singer Wayne Woodward, dance troupe Boogie Storm and magician Richard Jones in the grand final, along with two more acts to be decided in Thursday night’s final round of semi-finals.
Alesha’s potentially ill-advised remark wasn’t the only thing that had people talking in Wednesday’s show, though, as she was also reprimanded for pushing both Amanda Holden and David Walliams’ buzzers during one act’s performance.
