Counterfeit Perfume Found To Contain Urine, Antifreeze And Other 'Dangerous Chemicals'

Debating whether to save a few quid on a knockoff fragrance? This might convince you not to.

A shipment of 'fake' perfume - including Marc Jacobs Daisy and Chanel No.5 - has been seized in America and found to contain antifreeze and urine, according to The Fashion Law.

The authorities said the scents also contained "other unpleasant, flammable, or dangerous chemicals that burn when applied to the skin".

Five men from New York have been arrested and charged with charged with conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods and trafficking in counterfeit goods, each of which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The men were reportedly importing generic fragrances from China, putting them in fake designer packaging and selling them on to wholesalers.
