Newborn Baby Held By Late Father's Motorcycle Gloves Just Weeks After He Died

'She started to smile as soon as I laid her in her dad's gloves.'

A father who died just weeks before his daughter was born has been honoured in a poignant photograph.

Hector Daniel Ferrer Alvarez, who was tragically shot in Florida in April, was always known for loving his motorcycle.

His partner Kathryn Williams wanted to use his gloves and helmet to create the touching yet heartbreaking photo.

"She started to smile as soon as I laid her in her dad's gloves. I didn't have time to set light or anything," photographer Kim Stone told The Huffington Post UK.

"This time, I really needed to pray before the session," Stone explained.

"The grandmother had booked the session for her daughter, explaining that the baby’s dad had been tragically shot.

"The sweet mum was emotional. She wanted to use dad’s motorcycle gear; something he loved. I wanted to do my best."

Stone said Aubrey's mother shed tears as they took the photo of the newborn.

The photographer shared a message Williams sent her after the photo was posted on Stones' Facebook page.

"I will screenshot the page in a few weeks and I'll print it off for my daughter to show her the world prayed and wept for her and mommy and daddy," Williams wrote to Stone.

"Daddy made an impact even after he was gone and that would be his dream."

Since Stone shared the image on social media on 11 June, it has been shared nearly 65,000 times in just three days.

"Her daddy loved his motorcycle," Stone wrote when sharing the image.

"He always wore protective gear. He wanted to make sure he was safe. He couldn't take any chances with a new baby girl on the way.

"But he will never hold his baby girl. His life was taken just a month before she was born.

"They say that angels are talking to babies when they smile in their sleep. I guess maybe that's true. #‎babyaubrey #‎daddyshands."

There have been nearly 13,000 comments on the photo from people all around the world sharing their condolences with the family.

"This is just amazing, I am so sorry for your loss, but he is with you and Aubrey," one person wrote.

Another commented: "Daddy will be watching over her all her life I can tell you that."
