Woman's Poignant Miscarriage Tattoo Helps Her 'Remember The Baby That Wasn't Meant To Be'

One in six known pregnancies end in miscarriage.

A woman who recently suffered a miscarriage has had a tattoo to help cope with her immense loss.

The woman, known as Imgur user 'sweatermaster', said she had a miscarriage two weeks ago. To help her process her loss, she had a simple curved line drawing of a woman and her baby in the womb, tattooed onto her leg.

She said it helps her "remember the baby that wasn't meant to be".

Miscarriages are much more common than most people realise. In fact, one in six known pregnancies will end in miscarriage, according to the NHS.

The woman shared a picture of her tattoo on Imgur, which has since been viewed more than 30,000 times.

She said the inking is by tattoo artist Joey at California Electric Tattoo.

Her poignant post has helped open up discussion surrounding the taboo subject on the social sharing site.

Kellyography wrote: "Miscarriages are super, super common. It's time to end the stigma surrounding them and talk more about it when we talk about reproduction."

While thefreakshow9 wrote: "Just remember, with some things, there is never getting over it, but there is moving on. I wish you the best of luck."

Miscarriage tattoos have become an increasingly popular way to process the loss of an unborn child.
