The group's general whereabouts is said to have been known but, earlier, they were unable to be located due to cloud.

The children, who are in several groups, were last seen near Tafarn Y Garreg, Abercraf, Powys, Sky News reported.

Two are thought to be suffering from hypothermia.

It was initially reported the group was lost in underground caves but this was later retracted.

The Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team is leading the search operation, assisted by a UK Coastguard helicopter.
