Double Amputee Chris Van Etten Embodies 'Perseverance' In Jockey Underwear Campaign

The photoshoot stars 'everyday heroes'.

A new underwear campaign focusing on "everyday heroes" shows people stripping down and sharing their struggles against extraordinary odds.

One of the stars of the photoshoot, for loungewear brand Jockey, is former marine Chris Van Etten from San Fransisco, US.

During a tour in Afghanistan in 2012, Van Etten lost both of his legs, and one of his closest friends, in an explosion.

After receiving prosthetic legs in 2013, Van Etten turned to exercise to regain both his physical and mental strength.

Now medically retired from service, he hopes to work as a motivational speaker and eventually open his own gym.

Van Etten's Jockey campaign images were posted to the brand's social media with the hashtag "#ShowEm Perseverance".

"Staying active keeps me wanting to get out there and focus on being alive rather than what had already happened me," Van Etten said speaking on the Today show.

"Not all of us are lucky enough to get a full life, and as long as I have mine, I'm going to make sure that I celebrate it the best I can."
