Michelle Keegan's Hairdresser Reveals The Secrets Behind Her New Blonde Hair

5 ways brunettes can go blonde with minimal damage.

Michelle Keegan shocked fans when she revealed her dramatic transformation from brunette to bright blonde.

Keegan’s was given the celebrity treatment by stylist Vernon Deysel at the Paul Edmonds salon in Knightsbridge, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get the same results too.

Chatting to The Huffington Post UK, Deysel shared the secrets behind the star’s new look for her role in the ITV drama ‘Tina & Bobby’ - including his top five tips for brunettes going blonde.

1. Choose a blonde that’s right for you.

Keegan and Deysel shared photos of what colour they both wanted to go for. You can do the same by bringing pictures along to your hairdresser.

The hairdresser also advises trying on wigs to identify the colours that will flatter your skin tone.

2. Plan well ahead of time.

Six weeks prior to Keegan’s appointment, Deysel started to plan exactly what he was going to do.

Get in touch with your hairdresser to book a consultation a few weeks ahead of your dye appointment, as this will give them time to decide the right method for your hair type.

The extra time also allows you to get your hair in top condition, using treatments and avoiding heat styling, ahead of the damaging bleach.

3. Don’t expect to do it all in one day.

Keegan’s finished blonde look was achieved across two days.

On the first day Deysel removed the brown tint from her hair using low volumes of pre-lightener to gently lift the hair colour, with minimal damage.

The following day Keegan returned and he highlighted her hair to give it a cooler tone and add more depth to the colour.

4. Keep your hair in good condition with the best products.

During the dying process, Deysel applied a moisturising Kérastase Fusio Dose hair treatment along with Smartbond by L’Oreal Professional (which helps minimise damage during the colouring process).

He also gave Keegan a range of intensively moisturising at-home products to maintain her glossy colour, including Kérastase Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo and Conditioner, Shu Uemura Rescue Remedy, and Shu Uemura Colour Lustre in Cool Blonde.

5. Don’t forget about the cut.

Following her blonde transformation, salon owner Paul Edmonds styled Keegan’s hair into a mid-long, full-bodied style that graduates at the front.

An updated haircut will make the most of your new look, along with helping to eliminate split ends and prevent further damage.
