Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Ola Jordan has accused BBC bosses of banning her from wearing revealing outfits on the show, as they thought they were “too sexy” for its family audience.
More specifically, Ola says bosses put a stop to her wearing catsuits to perform her routines, telling The Mirror: “I loved wearing the catsuits but after a while they stopped me. I think they thought they were too sexy.”
An insider even suggests to the newspaper she felt they were trying to stifle her, by forbidding her more racy wardrobe choices.
However, a ‘Strictly’ source has insisted to the newspaper that this is far from the case, adding: “This sounds like sour grapes. Ola of all people knows that you top the leaderboard by doing the best dance, not by wearing a catsuit. After all, the year she won ‘Strictly’, she didn’t wear a catsuit.”
After a decade on the show, Ola stepped down as a ‘Strictly’ pro at the end of the last series.
Her final few years on the show were particularly controversial, as she repeatedly hit out at ‘Strictly’ in press interviews, accusing bosses of deliberately awarding certain acts more points than they deserved, so that others would be eliminated.
She also blasted her wage packet, while saying that the judges were paid too much given that their knowledge of ballroom dancing wasn’t always on point.
Ola isn’t the only one stepping down from the show, though, with a grand total of five professional dancers all bidding farewell to ‘Strictly’ in 2016.
Head Judge Len Goodman has also announced that he’ll be bowing out at the end of the current series, with attention already turning to who’ll be replacing him in 2017.
