'Big Brother' 2016 Winner Crowned As Jason Burrill, After Shock Triumph Over Hughie Maughan

After 50 days of tears, tantrums and THAT choking incident, we finally have our champ.

Jason Burrill has been declared the shock winner of ‘Big Brother’ 2016.

After seven weeks locked up in the house, the body double and businessman walked out of the Elstree compound as the 17th champion of the reality series during Tuesday (26 July) night’s final.

Host Emma Willis revealed that Jason had triumphed over eventual runner-up Hughie Maughan, who was the bookies’ favourite to win the show.

Despite being crowned champ, Jason left the house to a mixture of cheers and boos from the crowd and admitted he was surprised to win.

He also told Emma he was hoping to smooth things over with ex-girlfriend Charlie Doherty, after she returned to the house for an explosive showdown with him last week.

“Me and Charlie have many chapters in our lives, that was just another chapter, hopefully we can be amicable,” he said.

“We could have grown stronger in there, we didn’t, I just hope she’s ok.”

Second-placed Hughie also said he was “incredibly happy” to come runner-up to Jason, and in his interview, he claimed he wanted to continue the relationship with Ryan Ruckledge that he formed inside the house.

“We were just friends then you all seen what happened. I’ve never met anyone with a tan like his in my life!” he said.

“If we get together I’d be really happy, if we became really good friends…”

Earlier in the evening, Janye Connery and Evelyn Ellis were first to leave in sixth and fifth places respectively.

Jayne admitted she was “chuffed” to make the final as she had “only packed for two weeks”, adding she had often been pushed to her limits in the house.

“I came in with no expectations, for me time, but with Natalie, you know,” she said. “The switch was when I suddenly thought, this is my journey, I’m not letting anyone spoil it, it wasn’t easy to confront her and I wish her no malice.”

Evelyn explained she initially found it difficult to come out of her shell, telling Emma: “I was cocky, I thought it would be so easy, then saw so many amazing confident people, was like a deer in headlights, was overwhelmed but then found my feet and though fuck it.”

Jayne and Evelyn were followed by fourth-placed Andy West, and Jackson Blyton, who walked out as the bronze housemate.

Revealing how he felt when he became targeted by his fellow housemates. Andy said: “There has to be an enemy in there…and I became that person…They are talking to me like I’m Albert Einstein, I guess compared to other people in the house I was maybe a bit more educated.”

During his exit interview, Jackson also made his intentions to continue his romance with Georgina Leigh Cantwell, saying: “I made a lot of promises in that house to her and I want to fulfil all of those promises.”
