'EastEnders' Spoilers: Karl Howman Quits Buster Briggs Role

What will this mean for Shirley?

Buster Briggs is set to wave goodbye to Walford, as actor Karl Howman has quit ‘EastEnders’.

He will be leaving the BBC One soap in the coming weeks, having already filmed his final episodes, Digital Spy has reported.

Karl has played Buster since 2014, introduced as the teenage love of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), and the real father of Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).

When he joined the soap, details of Karl’s character were kept under wraps until he appeared on screen, in order to keep the shock twist that Shirley was Mick’s real mum a secret.

Lately, Buster has embarked on an affair with Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), as his romance with Shirley slowly began to fizzle out.

Details about his exit storyline are not yet currently know, and it remains to be seen if Shirley will discover Buster’s infidelity before his departure.

It’s set to be a busy few weeks in Albert Square, as the coming days will see the return of Ross Kemp as Grant Mitchell.

The hardman will be back in Walford next week after receiving another phone call from ex-wife and now sister-in-law Sharon (Letitia Dean).

The character returned earlier this year after a 10 year break as part of Barbara Windsor’s farewell to the show, when Peggy Mitchell was killed off.

He also made a small appearance at her funeral earlier this month, but this time he will be sticking around a little longer, as the Mitchells face a new family drama.
