'Strictly Come Dancing' To Offer Contestants Relationship Counselling To Overcome Show 'Curse'

’Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are to offer relationship counselling to this year’s contestants, to avoid any of them falling victim to the dreaded ‘Strictly curse’, it has been claimed.

Over the years the show has been on air, many celebrities including Susanna Reid and Caroline Flack have fallen victim to the so-called “curse”, breaking up with long-term partners while competing.

Other contestants have also gone on to have relationships with their pro dance partners, like Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff, and Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice.

Now, the BBC is offering some counselling to this year’s batch of stars, should their romances be put under strain by their gruelling training schedule and time away from their loved ones.

A source told The Sun: “The curse bobs its head every year and the new people taking part have to be warned about it.

“It’s a full-on, intense show that puts strains on people’s relationships. They don’t understand what it’s like until it’s a couple of weeks in and it’s too late.

“There will definitely be chats saying that if their relationship is not rock solid then it’s worth having a chat about it before the training and live shows start.”

This year’s line-up includes model Daisy Lowe, TV personality pop singer Louise Redknapp, ‘Pop Idol’ winner Will Young, former Labour MP Ed Balls, presenter Laura Whitmore, ‘BBC Breakfast’ regular Ore Oduba, former ‘Xtra Factor’ host Melvin Odoom, and ex-’Hollyoaks’ actor Danny Mac.

More contestants will be announced in the coming days, ahead of the new series’ launch next month.
