BBC Address Claims Sir Steve Redgrave Will Be Dropped From Future Olympic Coverage Following John Inverdale 'Row'

He had an awkward clash with his co-presenter last week.

The BBC has downplayed reports Sir Steve Redgrave will dropped from future Olympic coverage, following a reported fall out with fellow presenter John Inverdale.

It has been claimed bosses were not planning to use the services of the five-time Olympic champion again, after he and John had an awkward exchange live on air while covering the rowing events last week.

After John bizarrely compared Steve to Bond villan Oddjob, Steve hit back, saying: “We’ll have to call you Jaws because I can never get a word in edgeways,” before rolling his eyes. He then did not return for the rest of the two hour broadcast.

He later claimed he’d “had a disagreement with a back-room member of staff about content and it went out.”

A source has told The Sun the incident did not impress producers, revealing: “Steve’s behaviour has annoyed so many that there are others who can replace him.

However, the BBC have attempted to pour water on the rumours, although they have not addressed Steve’s long-term future with them.
